Dhokla

Necessary materials:

  • 64 g grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 128 ml of curd (yogurt or in Hindi called forehead)
  • 4 slices of bread
  • teaspoon mustard seeds (black sarson seeds, or in Hindi called rai)
  • 1 or 2 dried red chilies (sukha lanka)
  • Enough oil to mix (tadka)'
  • Some green curry leaves, either fresh or dried curry leaves.
  • 1 or two chopped green chilies.

How to make :

  1. Combine curd with grated coconut, chopped green chilies, and sugar in a food processor.
  2. Spread the mixture on each of the two sides of the bread that you will use to make Dhokla bread. Make two pairs of sandwiches using the method above.
  3. Heat the oil that has been poured into a frying pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and crushed dried red chilies to the frying pan.
  4. Stir all the ingredients for a minute or two, until the mustard crackles. After that, turn off the stove and remove the pan from the stove.
  5. Pour the mixture that you made earlier on the sandwich that you have spread with the previous seasoning mixture.
  6. Cut 4 sandwiches into 4 equal parts.
  7. Enjoy Dhokla bread while it's hot.
