Grits

This dish is a kind of porridge made from boiled corn flour. This porridge is usually served with grated cheese, sausage, bacon, salt and pepper or red eye sauce.

Usually on top of the porridge topped with shrimp, sausage, and scallions. In addition, this porridge is also added to taste so it tastes delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups of air
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup coarsely ground corn flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 sharp Cheddar aunties, grated

Steps to cook it:

  1. Place the milk, water, and salt in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Once the milk mixture boils, gradually add the cornstarch while continuing to stir. Once all the cornstarch is added, reduce the heat to low and cover. Open the lid and shake regularly, every 3 to 4 minutes, to prevent grits from sticking or forming lumps; make sure to get into the corner of the pot while stirring. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until the mixture is soft.
  2. Remove from heat, add pepper and butter, and stir until combined. Once melted, gradually pour in the cheese a little at a time. quick.
